I wrote for the B2B tech and energy industries for a decade, but recently I have returned to where I started — helping nonprofits tell their stories.
Content Marketing and Events
Content Marketing Plan + Editorial Calendar
The Community Foundation of Nevada County asked me to create a content marketing plan to raise awareness about their organization). After a discovery meeting where I collected information about their goals and target audiences, I developed a content marketing plan with key talking points, a list of story types and ideas that mapped to what target audiences care about, and a 6-month editorial calendar that combined story ideas, themes, and communication channels. In the first 4 months of executing my plan, website traffic increased 251%.
Website Content Strategy
During my tenure at HCLTech, I worked with an energy company and an insurance company to redesign their customer websites. I led the content strategy process for these clients, auditing their existing site, interviewing stakeholders, creating user personas and user journeys, and recommending a new site architecture to create a better user experience. I also created a plan and process to move the content into new design templates.
Event Promotion and Planning
Sierra Commons hired me to promote a series of educational workshops in five California counties. I wrote press releases, sharable social media content, and reminder emails for attendees. I also interviewed experts to write thought leadership articles for local news outlets that helped fill seats at all five workshops. I even put on my research hat to find event venues and instructors for the workshops.
